2.8300 Complete engine:
As the International HS 2.8 is no longer in production we manufacture our own, this is known as a 2.8300.
A complete 2.8300 engine is a ready to drop in unit, it is complete with all ancillaries ready to plumb up and start. This engine is a great option if you would like to do a straight swap.
Our 2.8300 engine utilises a fully reconditioned 300Tdi cylinder block, the following process is carried out to the cylinder block:
- The cylinder block is stripped removing all core plugs, oil gallery plugs and cam bearings so the block is completely bare, this then goes through a special acid clean bath to remove the rust deposits found in the water galleries.
- After acid cleaning the block is rebored and honed to 93mm from the standard 90.5mm. This larger bore and increased stroke brings the capacity to 2.8L.
- The cylinder face is skimmed, bringing the top deck back to new clean material.
- With all machining done, the block is washed off to remove any swarf and cutting fluid.
- Spray painted black.
- New core plugs fitted.
- New prefinished cam bearings are fitted.
With the cylinder block fully reconditioned and machined to 2.8L specs the engine build can commence. The below NEW parts are fitted to build a complete 2.8300 VNT Engine, these are all OEM spec:
- 2.8l Crankshaft
- 2.8l Conrods
- 2.8l Pistons
- All bearings
- Camshaft
- Tappet rollers
- Timing Case with oil pump
- Sump
- Injection pump (fully reconditioned set to 2.8L specs with new 12mm rotor head)
- Cylinder head
- 2.8l metal layered head gasket
- Head bolts
- Rocker shaft
- 2.8 Injectors
- Injector pipes
- Lift pump
- Vacuum pump
- Leak off pipe (hard plastic type)
- Cyclone breather
- Thermostat housing
- VNT Exhaust Manifold
- VNT Turbocharger
- Turbocharger oil feed and oil drain pipes
- Inlet manifold
- Waterpump housing
- Water pump
- Power steering pump
- Alternator (100Amp)
- Rear seal (special 2.8 version with extra lower fixings to help avoid leaks)
- Gaskets and Bolts
Some parts within our engine are reconditioned, this is due to OEM parts supply no longer being available. These parts are individually inspected and necessary the reconditioning carried out. All cast aluminium parts are cleaned and then vapour blasted to bring finish back to near as good as new.
- Oil filter housing
- Timing belt cover (new fan pulley bearing fitted)
- Rocker cover
- Timing gears
- Rocker arms (tip of rocker is resurfaced and fitted with a new adjusting screw and lock nut)
- Tappet sleeves
- Waterpump, Power steering and fan pulleys. (Sandblasted and then re powder coated)
When a complete 2.8300 build is finished, the engine is hot tested on our test rig. The engine is plumbed up and the below paremeters are checked during a 1 hour test time:
- Oil pressure
- Turbo boost pressure
- Alternator amperage
- Coolant temperature
- Idle RPM set
After test the engine is drained of oil and coolant. It is then crated with the correct conversion parts required for the awaiting Land Rover, whether that be a Defender, Range Rover or Discovery.

2.8300 Stripped / Long engine:
As the International HS 2.8 is no longer in production we manufacture our own, this is known as a 2.8300.
A stripped / long block 2.8300 engine is partial built engine with cylinder head etc. This level of engine is a great option if you already have an existing 300Tdi that has serviceable working parts on, or some parts that you have already upgraded, for example; you may have a VNT turbocharger and an uprated fuel injection pump already on your existing engine and feel that they don’t need replacing, a 2.8300 stripped engine is a great option to add these components to.

- Tappet rollers
- Timing Case with oil pump
- Sump
- Cylinder head
- 2.8l metal layered head gasket
- Head bolts
- Rocker shaft
- Thermostat housing
- Rear seal (special 2.8 version with extra lower fixings to help avoid leaks)
- Gaskets and Bolts

After a stripped engine build is finished it is then crated with the correct conversion parts and/or other engine parts to build up as a complete engine.

2.8300 Short engine:
As the International HS 2.8 is no longer in production we manufacture our own, this is known as a 2.8300.
A short 2.8300 engine is a partial built engine that is just the cylinder block, crankshaft, conrods and pistons. This level of engine is a great option if you wish build your own engine with just the 2.8L internals.

- Spray painted black.
- New core plugs fitted.
- New prefinished cam bearings are fitted.
With the cylinder block fully reconditioned and machined to 2.8L specs the engine build can commence. The below NEW parts are fitted to build a short 2.8300 engine, these are all OEM spec:
- 2.8l Crankshaft
- 2.8l Conrods
- 2.8l Pistons
- All bearings
- Rear seal (special 2.8 version with extra lower fixings to help avoid leaks)
