200Tdi Complete engine:
A complete 200Tdi engine is a ready to drop in unit, it is complete with all ancillaries ready to plumb up and start. This engine is a great option if you would like to do an easy engine change.
Our 200Tdi engines utilises a fully reconditioned 200Tdi cylinder block, the following process is carried out to the cylinder block:
- The cylinder block is stripped removeing all core plugs, oil gallery plugs and cam bearings so the block is completely bare, this then goes through a special acid clean bath to remove the rust deposits found in the water galleries.
- After acid cleaning the block is rebored and honed to the first oversize, this is generally 0.5mm oversize, which brings the bore to 91mm from the standard 90.5mm.
- The cylinder face is skimmed, bringing the top deck back to new clean meterial.
- With all machining done, the block is washed off to remove any swarf and cutting fluid.
- Spray painted black.
- New core plugs fitted.
- New prefinished cam bearings are fitted.
With the cylinder block fully recondition and machined the engine build can commence. The below NEW parts are fitted to build a complete 200Tdi Engine, these are all OEM spec:
- Pistions & Rings
- All bearings
- Camshaft
- Tappet rollers
- Oil pump
- Injection pump (fully reconditioned set to orginal 200Tdi specs)
- Metal layered head gasket
- Head bolts
- Rocker shaft
- Injector pipes
- Lift pump
- Leak off pipe
- Cyclone breather
- Thermostat
- Garrett Turbocharger
- Turbocharger oil feed and oil drain pipes
- Water pump
- Power steering pump
- Alternator (100Amp)
- Rear seal
- Gaskets and Bolts
With the majority of parts for the 200Tdi now obsolete from OEM manufactures, we have to recondition the original parts. These parts are individually inspected and the necessary recondioning carried out. All cast aluminium parts are cleaned and then vapour blasted to bring the finish back to near as good as new. Any areas of rot found within aluminium housings we re-weld the area and machine back to original specs. Some of the reconditioned parts are below;
- Crankshaft, cleaned and reground to the first undersize, on both mains and big end journals
- Con rods, cleaned with new little end bush fitted
- Cylinder head, skimmed and presusure tested, new valve seats, guides and valved fitted
- Oil filter housing
- Timing Case
- Ladder frame
- Sump, sandblasted and powder coated black
- Rocker cover
- Timing gears
- Rocker arms (tip of rocker is resurfaced and fitted with a new adjusting screw and lock nut)
- Tappet sleeves
- Injectors
- Waterpump, Power steering and fan pulleys. (Sandblasted and then re powder coated)
When a complete 200Tdi build is finished, the engine is hot tested on our test rig. The engine is plumbed up and the below paremeters are checked during a 1 hour test time:
- Oil pressure
- Turbo boost pressure
- Alternator amperage
- Coolant temperature
- Idle RPM set
After test the engine is drained of oil and coolant. It is then crated with the correct additional parts required for the awaiting Land Rover, whether that be a Defender, Range Rover or Discovery.

200Tdi Stripped / Long engine:
A stripped / long block 200Tdi engine is partial built engine with cylinder head etc. This level of engine is a great option if you already have an existing 200Tdi that has serviceable working parts on or some parts that you have already upgraded / replaced, a reconditioned 200Tdi stripped engine is a great option to add these components to.

A short 200Tdi engine is a partial built engine that is just the cylinder block, crankshaft, conrods and pistons. This level of engine is a great option if you wish build your own engine up from a reconditioned block and its internals.
Our 200Tdi engines utilises a fully reconditioned 200Tdi cylinder block, the following process is carried out to the cylinder block:
